(Im)mortality
Oh piteous mortal, cast aside your pain,
You shall be raised above your lowly state –
By metabolic lifespan so constrained,
Enslaved of nature, aging potentate
Let our new godless priesthood cast her down
And on that throne raise logic in her place
Unyielding rationality to crown
The ruler of our swift-progressing race
Towards utopia, we must advance
And ever faster, so to leave behind
Outdated notions, only hinderance
These obsolescent morals we’ll unbind.
Cast not upon the past the merest glance
The olden rules our science will rescind.
