Goodbye, Democracy
Hong Kong is burning
And history is turning
Her face from the light
Back towards the long darkness
The protestors wave flags
To summon their savior
But America doesn’t care
It doesn’t involve us
And one day soon, it will
Involve all of us somehow
By then it will be too late
To stem the tide of cruelty
Will this be a new June fourth,
More tanks and blood in the streets?
The tanks will have their day
If not in Hong Kong, then somewhere
